Nischal Mehrotra, Vice President,Liugong India, informs that the company is making design and technological advancements in its products to stay ahead in a highly competitive market.

What demand do you envisage in the market for excavators and how will it impact the industry?
In India, demand for excavators will continue to be driven by the 7-20 ton class for use in construction, mining, and agriculture, and for a variety of tasks such as digging, grading, and demolition.

Since the segment is highly competitive, excavator manufacturers will look to create shorter lead times with rapid product upgrades and new launches. They will aim to respond quickly to the changing market demands in order to stay competitive. At Liugong India, we are enhancing our customer support, providing training, and after-sales services. We are upgrading our products and not compromising on their quality. Our aim is to build a strong and a loyal customer base.

What new features is Liugong India offering in its excavators?
To build up a competitive product positioning we are making new design and technology interventions in our 20-ton class in order to improve their performance, productivity, and operator comfort.

We are also offering new hybrid excavators in the 20-ton class. Since these excavators use a combination of electric and hydraulic power to operate, they can perform the same tasks as conventional excavators while using lesser fuel and emitting fewer pollutants.

We have introduced an advanced telematics system in the excavators to help operators and owners track and monitor machine performance, maintenance needs, and fuel consumption. The system uses sensors and data analytics to provide information in real-time to help operators optimize their performance and reduce downtime.

Liugong India has also brought in advanced control systems such as joystick controls and touchscreen interfaces in its excavators to make them easier and more intuitive to operate. The improved cab design in the 20-ton includes better visibility, ergonomic seating, and a climate control system. These product advancements have made our excavators more productive and reliable for meeting various application needs.

The technological interventions have helped improve the productivity of our excavators, as they allow them to work more efficiently and with greater precision. The advanced control systems and GPS technology help excavator operators to perform more accurate and efficient digging and grading, which reduces or eliminates the need for re-working, and thereby increases productivity.

What attachments are being offered with the excavators?
Our excavators can be customized with different attachments and configurations so that they can work in different projects and under various working conditions. For example, an excavator used in a quarry can be equipped with a rock bucket, while an excavator used in demolition will have a hydraulic hammer. We provide buckets, hydraulic hammers, grapples, augers, rippers etc. which make our excavators multifaceted and versatile for performing a wider range of tasks. This increases the overall usefulness and value-for-money proposition of our excavators.

What is the company’s strategy to drive sales?
While promoting our base excavators, we are also aiming to drive sales of our heavy tonnage excavators by partnering with dealers and distributors in the mining industry. We are offering them incentives, providing training on the products, and creating awareness on their features and benefits.

To promote our higher capacity excavators, we are offering financing options to customers in the mining industry. And in doing so, we are making Liugong India’s excavators more accessible to customers who do not have the capital to purchase the equipment outright.
