German's latest Precast Concrete Technology in Indonesia

PT Modernland's first modern precast concrete factory uses high-tech precast technology from Progress Group

PT Modern Panel Indonesia recently opened its first Modern Precast Concrete Factory in Modern Industrial Area of Cikande, Banten. The factory serves as a precast concrete manufacturing hub, producing both ready mix and precast concrete.


Precast concrete elements are components or structural elements that are molded in a special temporary or permanent precast concrete factory, allowing for a much more controlled and efficient production process. The precast concrete has numerous advantages over the traditional construction method because it adopts the latest precast concrete technology of Germany that makes the construction process faster, safer, and gives a better finishing quality.

Hendy Wijaya, GM-Operations at PT Modern Panel Indonesia, informs that after installing the first pile and batching plant in the second half of 2017, the factory was officially opened after a few months with its complete infrastructure, and is now ready to compete in the Indonesian precast construction industry, which has a large market potential. “The main target is to meet the needs of façade precast construction of major developers in Indonesia with super block projects, high-rise buildings, offices, apartments, hotels, etc," says Hendy.

Precast technology in other Asian countries

In most neighboring Asian countries, numerous developers have already started to apply this high-tech and environmental-friendly production method. One of the most known and successful real estate developers in Asia is Thailand-based Pruksa, which has seven precast factories with the capacity to make more than 1,000 precast apartments and houses per month. Pruksa currently runs the most modern, efficient and largest so-called carrousel production line and is one of the world’s forerunners in precast concrete production.

Advantages of Precast Concrete Technology

There are several advantages obtained by building with precast concrete: On the one hand, the time of project implementation can be faster, for example, in high-rise buildings, the construction time can be reduced by almost 50%. Another advantage is its guaranteed quality as it is produced with the latest technology in a controlled environment. In addition, the production process in a sheltered factory hall is not affected by weather conditions and is also environment-friendly as any concrete residue can be fully recycled.

Ready Mix Concrete

Hendy Wijaya informs that trials for Ready Mix Concrete have been completed successfully and the factory is ready for production to meet consumer demand of concrete for development of infrastructure, shops and housing projects, all of which are approx. 50 km from the batching plant. The factory’s production capacity for ready-mix concrete is 480m3 per 8 working hours. Modern Precast currently has 6 truck mixers with a capacity of 7m3 per truck.

Latest high-tech precast machinery from Ebawe, A Progress Group Company

Hendy informs, "For Precast, we have installed the latest high-tech precast machinery from Ebawe, Germany, a company belonging to the leading precast machinery and solutions provider Progress Group, represented in Indonesia by PT Detede, and was set up by engineers from Germany. Production will start by the middle of this year, and the capacity can be scaled up to 202,800 m² per year.”
