ZF to Showcase Advanced Driveline Solutions at bauma 2025
The construction industry is about to see massive changes, driven by volatile markets, economic uncertainties, and governmental regulations, demanding high flexibility and fast development cycles. At bauma Munich, ZF proves that, as a specialist in driveline technology and intelligent system solutions, the Group is the ideal partner to meet these demands.

New Modular E-Platform: ZF eTRAC Covers a Power Range of 20–230 kW for Construction Machinery
The eTRAC electric drive system satisfies all the expectations for performance and productivity found in traditional drivelines and combines them with the extensive benefits and opportunities that electric systems offer. Thanks to its modular design, this new range of electric central drives can easily be adapted for various vehicle applications. With its latest development – eTRAC eCD110-230 – ZF now covers the power range from 20–230 kW for construction machinery (Fig. 1).
- Zero emissions without compromising performance
- Low noise level
- Efficient electrical components
- Robust and reliable mechanical driveline
- Compact installation space
Future-Proof Transmission Control Unit Fulfills Upcoming Cybersecurity Standards
In 2027, cybersecurity will become an important topic for the construction machinery industry. In January, the Machine Regulation will take effect, followed by the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) in December.

Once both regulations take effect, all electronic control units and the software running on them must be cybersecurity (CyS) compliant. The main focus is the safety of machines and protection against corruption.
With the drive control unit EC5, ZF meets these requirements and is “Cybersecurity Ready” (Fig. 2).
Electric Central Drives for the Construction Industry: CeTrax 2 Dual and CeTrax 2

ZF provides vehicle manufacturers with new, powerful options for driveline electrification: CeTrax 2 Dual (Fig. 3) and CeTrax 2 (Fig. 4). These systems are based on the modular e-drive platform for heavy commercial vehicles and can be combined with both electric and conventional drivelines.
Within the installation space of a conventional combustion transmission, the system integrates either one or two oil-cooled PSM e-motors with hairpin windings, the same number of 800V-based SiC inverters, and a 3-speed transmission with e-actuators. This highly efficient drive develops a continuous output of up to 380 kW with a peak torque of up to 24,700 Nm.
The most powerful variant, the CeTrax 2 Dual, with two motors, has a system weight of only around 385 kg. Thanks to its compact design, low energy consumption, and advanced software architecture, CeTrax 2 Dual and CeTrax 2 offer OEMs a future-proof platform that extends battery ranges and supports zero-emission drivelines.
New Torsional Damper for Off-Highway Applications
Mobile off-highway machines have a high demand for vibration damping in the powertrain. With its new viscous torsional damper, ZF offers a versatile solution to effectively reduce engine vibrations in all types of powertrains.
