Wienerberger AG announces Rs. 30-cr investment in its plant in Karnataka

Wienerberger AG, the € 3.3-bn global player in the construction sector, has announced an investment of Rs. 30 crore in its Kunigal factory in Tumkur district of Karnataka. CEO, Wienerberger Building Solutions, Christof Domenig, said that the announcement comes on the compnay's 200th anniversary and 10th anniversary of its operation in India. The investment will be directed towards upgradation and implementation of new equipment in the factory, converting natural gas as a fuel, and launching of new building solutions. Globally, the company boasts of building over 180,000 houses, covering 290,000 roofs, laying 745,000 km pipes, and paving 17,000,000 m2 surfaces in 2018 alone. Wienerberger launched its first operation in 2009 in India when the company started production of Porotherm smart clay bricks at its Kunigal factory and has built more than 45,000+ apartments across South India and 15,000 independent houses, many prestigious hospitality and educational institutions. Wienerberger’s India product portfolio includes clay building materials and solutions for walls, roofs, and façades. Wall solutions include products like Porotherm HP, VP Load Bearing, Thermobrick, HP Grinded + Dryfix System; Roof Solutions include Koramic and Tondach; and Façade Solutions and Aspects.
