VOC Port Becomes First in India to Deploy 5 km Range Anti-Drone Security System

VOC-Port
V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has become the first port in India to begin implementation of an advanced Anti-Drone System to strengthen maritime and coastal security and protect critical port infrastructure. The project includes an integrated radio frequency and radar-based drone detection and jamming system designed for complex port environments with 360-degree omnidirectional coverage. The system comprises a drone detector, detection radar and man-pack jammer with an effective range of up to 5 km, enabling real-time detection, tracking, classification and neutralisation of unauthorised drones.

The agreement was signed by A. Ganesan, Chief Mechanical Engineer, VOC Port Authority, and Anurag Agarwal of Central Electronics Limited, a Government of India enterprise, in the presence of Chairperson Susanta Kumar Purohit and Deputy Chairperson Rajesh Soundararajan. The project is scheduled for completion within three months.

Aligned with the Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, the initiative will enhance airspace surveillance, compliance with coastal defence norms and emergency response at the port. VOC Port Authority said the system will strengthen operational resilience and set a security benchmark for Indian ports, reinforcing protection of strategic assets and personnel.
