Structure Collapses at Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Site

A tragic accident at the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train construction site in Vasad village claimed the lives of three workers and injured one. The incident occurred Tuesday evening during well foundation work near the Mahi River, where a temporary steel and concrete structure collapsed.
Initial reports suggested an under-construction bridge collapse, but the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) clarified that the mishap involved a temporary structure used for sinking concrete blocks to a depth of 610 meters, of which 582 meters were completed. The structure, comprising 2.5-ton concrete blocks supported by high-tensile (HT) strands, failed when some strands snapped, causing the blocks to fall and trap four workers.
A detailed technical investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the structural failure.
