Kolkata Orange Line Phase II Extension Deadline Pushed to March’25

The deadline for the Orange Line Phase II extension from Ruby to Sector V has been extended to March 2025. Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL), the project’s implementing agency, had aimed to complete the 4 km extension by December 2024. However, an 800-meter viaduct gap at Chingrighata and a 125-meter gap at Metropolitan remain incomplete on the EM Bypass to Salt Lake Bypass route. Work is progressing to bridge these sections, with completion now expected by early next year.
