Srikalasthi Steel Pipes plans ₹400-cr expansion

To cater to increasing demand for Ductile Iron Pipes, the board of directors of Srikalahasthi Pipes has taken a decision to increase the capacity of its Ductile Iron Pipe plant from 3,00,000 tons to 5,00,000 tons per annum at an investment of ₹400 crore. The board had earlier sanctioned ₹145 crore. It is proposed to install an additional Sinter Plant, furnace blowing system, hot blast stove, oxygen enrichment and all auxiliaries along with higher furnace volume. The new blast furnace is likely to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2020 and the increase in capacity of Ductile Iron Pipe plant by the end of March 2021, said the company's director GS Rathi. He informed that the required investment will be met from internal accruals.
