SMP Kolkata Signs Deal for Rs 260 Cr LNG FSRU Project at Haldia Dock Complex

SMP-SPL-Port
Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMPK) has signed a licence agreement with East Horizon Pvt Limited to establish a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) at the Haldia Dock Complex. The project involves an investment of about Rs 260 crore and aims to strengthen LNG handling capacity in eastern India.

A Floating Storage and Regasification Unit is a specialised offshore vessel or terminal that receives liquefied natural gas (LNG) from carriers, stores it in liquid form and converts it back into natural gas for supply through onshore pipelines.

The project is expected to enhance energy infrastructure at the port while supporting the development of cleaner fuel supply chains in eastern India. By enabling LNG storage and regasification at Haldia Dock Complex, the initiative will also contribute to expanding natural gas usage in the region.
