PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Delhi Metro Pink and Magenta Line Corridors, Launches Phase V Expansion

One of the key projects inaugurated was the 12.3 km Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur section of the Pink Line. With this addition, the Pink Line now extends to about 71.56 km and forms what officials describe as India’s first fully operational Ring Metro. The corridor connects several areas including Majlis Park, Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Soorghat, Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Maujpur-Babarpur. The project also features a bridge across the Yamuna and a double-decker viaduct carrying both a metro line and a road flyover.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 9.9 km Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park section of the Magenta Line, which will improve connectivity in northern parts of the city including Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor and Bhalaswa.
During the event, the foundation stone was laid for three new metro corridors under Phase V-A with a combined length of about 16.10 km. These include the Central Vista corridor connecting R.K. Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, the Golden Line extension from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal 1, and the Golden Line extension from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. The projects are expected to enhance connectivity, reduce congestion and support sustainable urban transport in the national capital.
