Rural Development Ministry Approves ₹700 Cr for Watershed Projects

The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 56 watershed development projects worth ₹700 crore across ten states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim.
Covering approximately 2.8 lakh hectares, each project spans around 5,000 hectares, particularly designed for hill states. Part of PMKSY-WDC 2.0, the initiative aims to combat land degradation and bolster climate resilience. Managed by the Department of Land Resources, the program incorporates soil conservation, rainwater harvesting, and livelihood support for marginalized communities.
