NHAI unveils ₹14,000-cr SIR road on NH-44

The National Highways Authority of India has decided to build NH-44 starting from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, passing through Kurnool and Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh as a Super Information Road (SIR) equipped with a digital information system. The four-lane road will be expanded into a six-lane highway with an estimated cost of ₹14,000 crore, assistant engineer, NHAI, M Bharat Bhushan informed. The state-of-the-art road will display information such as distances to hospitals and petrol pumps along with the time of traffic clearance, on digital boards.

The DPR (Detailed Project Report) will be completed within the next three months and the road works will begin within 12 months. Roads, flyovers, bridges, underpass bridges, and service roads will be reconstructed and all toll plazas will be digitized along with the 251 km long SIR highway project.
