NHAI starts construction of ₹1,524-cr highway in NCR
The National Highways Authority of India has started the construction work on the Gurgaon-Rewari highway in the NCR region involving ₹1,524 crore investment. The project for which the Union road transport and highways minister had laid the foundation stone about a year ago got delayed due to land acquisition tangles but now it will be commissioned in 24 months. The new road will cut down travelling time between the two districts by almost half. The highway will be a part of NH-352 and will be included in a 132km stretch being developed at a cost of ₹4,500 crore that will connect Gurgaon to the Rajasthan border via Pataudi, Rewari and Narnaul. The Gurgaon-Rewari highway is expected to ease travel between Gurgaon and Rewari, cutting down their travel time from one and a half hours to around 45 minutes. It is expected to also reduce the vehicular load on NH-8, which is currently the main route used by commuters travelling between the two cities. It is also expected to provide relief to people travelling between the National Capital Region and Rajasthan, providing them with an alternate route for their travel.
