NHAI launches ₹1200-cr road widening in Telangana

The National Highway Authority of India has approved the construction of the highway widening project for the northwestern Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts of Telangana. The project involves an investment of ₹1,200 crore and a length of 151 km. The road-building agency has already started the survey work and once it is completed, land acquisition will be undertaken. Arrangements are being made to construct bypasses where there is a necessity and the road construction to be completed within the next three years. The National Highway will crisscross Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts starting from Medak it will cross Nagireddypeta, Ellareddy, Banswada, Nasrullabad, Varni, Rudrur, Bodhan, Rangel Zone, Shatapur, Navipeta Zone, Fakirabad, Basra, Mudol and Bhainsa via Yencha. The entire existing road stretch will be widened and reconstructed in three phases. The first phase from Medak to Ellareddy will be taken up and constructed at a cost of ₹250 crore. The 2nd phase of the road from Ellareddy to Rudrur will cost ₹300 crore and from Rudrur to Bhainsa it will cost ₹650 crore.
