BRO gets ₹3,500-cr for infra upgrade in border belt

BRO
The Border Road Organization has fast-tracked the process to build roads network covering the entire 3488 km border areas with China, which span across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. The central Government has enhanced its capital outlay by an unprecedented 40 percent or from just ₹2500 core in 2021-22 to ₹3500 crore in the next fiscal. Not only shall this money be used in respect of raising of infrastructural facilities but also for acquiring more of fixed assets like ultra-modern machinery, equipment, vehicles, etc as also retrofitting, maintenance, up-gradation and development of the existing physical assets already raised by it. In fact, in the country's northern sector in the Line of Actual Control (LAC) there are very well built roads networks and other infrastructural support on the other side of the border. As a result of this mismatch between the two sides, the Indian government for the last few years, built matching infrastructures like roads, tunnels and bridges.
