MoRTH clears ₹1,015-cr road widening in Maharashtra
The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned ₹1,015 crore for the widening of Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur road into the four-lane network in Maharashtra. Besides, ₹220 crore has also been sanctioned for Nhavara to Chaufula road in Shirur taluka of the state. A joint meeting of PMRDA, MSRDC, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was held for the bypass road considering the space constraints in Talegaon city. It was decided to quadruple the existing width of the road for which Union Transport Minister Gadkari also responded positively and had initially sanctioned ₹300 crore for the Talegaon-Chakan road stretch. However, as the widening of the road to Shikrapur is necessary, for this distance of 54 km from Talegaon – Chakan – Shikrapur, the state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had given an order to widen this stretch.
