MoRTH
Union Transport Ministry has approved ₹1,935 crore for the construction of Lucknow-Kanpur expressway. Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari, informed that the six-lane expressway will reduce the travel time between the two cities to 55 minutes from two hours currently. It will also boost the commercial activities in the region as a 63-km long e-way will start from Amausi airport and connect the proposed Ring Road in Kanpur via Unnao. Of the total distance, about a 13km-long section of the expressway from Amausi airport to Bunni near Unnao will be elevated. The link-way will be joined by six flyovers, one railway over bridge, 38 underpasses, and three main bridges and will pass through 11 villages of Lucknow and 30 of Unnao. The highway will also be connected with the under-construction Outer Ring Road in Lucknow. 13 km elevated section will be constructed by NHAI in the first phase and the remaining portion by UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority and is destined to be commissioned by 2023.
