MoRTH announces new Ghaziabad-Kanpur expressway project

MoRTH
The Union transport ministry has revealed plans for the development of a four-lane Ghaziabad-Kanpur greenfield expressway project in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at bolstering the country's road infrastructure. The detailed project report for the expressway has already been prepared, and the authorities are initiating the land acquisition process. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that this initiative will provide improved road connectivity to Bulandshahr, which has lagged behind in terms of transportation infrastructure compared to its neighboring districts.

The expressway will not only connect the industrial area of Ghaziabad to Kanpur but also alleviate traffic congestion on roads leading to Lucknow. Previously, people from nearby districts had to take longer routes via the Yamuna Expressway to reach Lucknow. The project involves the acquisition of approximately 2,160 hectares of land in seven districts, with an additional 360 hectares from several villages in Secunderabad, Sadar, Shikarpur, and Dibai tehsils of the district.

The Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway will be constructed similar to the Ganga Expressway, which will connect Kanpur to Ghaziabad via Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Unnao, and Kannauj. This development is set to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother transportation in the region.
