Railway takes up ₹100 cr bridge projects in Telangana

Southern Railway
The South Central Railway (SCR) has joined hands with the Telangana government to take up construction of eight roads over and under bridges across the city to ease road and rail traffic, said official sources, adding that the estimated cost of these projects is over ₹100 crore. As per the agreement, Indian Railways will shell out around ₹7.7 crore, while the state government will have to put up the remaining funds for the projects likely to be completed within a year. As a matter of fact, works have already kicked off for the construction of a RuB at Tukaram level crossing gate, adjacent to Lallaguda railway station, on the Secunderabad-Bolaram section. In the projects, box pushing technology is being used to construct the four-lane bridge. Initially, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) engineers had mooted two lanes for the bridge, but later discarded the design. Once completed and thrown open to the public, these bridges are expected to provide motorists respite at railway crossing gates or traffic gridlocks.
