Railway Board Clears Survey for Bengaluru’s Fourth Terminal

The Railway Board

The Railway Board has approved the Final Location Survey (FLS) for Bengaluru’s proposed fourth railway terminal, marking a key step toward easing congestion in the city’s strained railway network.

The ₹1.35 crore FLS will determine the terminal’s location, with sites near Devanahalli station and along the Yelahanka–Chikkaballapur corridor under review. The project, estimated to cost ₹1,500 crore, is planned to span over 1,000 acres and cater to the city’s growing passenger demand.

Bengaluru’s existing terminals—KSR Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur, and SMVT Bengaluru—already handle 140 originating, 139 terminating, and 142 through trains daily, alongside 110 trains needing primary maintenance.
