In a major push to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY), the Poddar Group has chalked out a plan to build 41,000 affordable housing units, managing director Rohit Poddar was quoted as saying. The company has already launched the first phase of its project 'PoddarWondercity' under the scheme at Badlapur East in the neighboring Thane district, where the phase one of the project has 1,863 flats with a built-up area of around 1.2 million sqft, The entire project will have over 4,000 units, to be completed over the next few years. The company plans to launch two new projects under the scheme and has identified areas like Kalyan near Thane and Chakan in Pune, and is also planning to launch a township of about 25,000 units in Chakan, which is set to be the largest development to date.
