Namma Metro readies alignment for Phase-III project

Metro Projects
Namma Metro has finalized the alignment for the Phase-III of the elevated corridor project. The 83-km project has five lines, mostly located on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) or beyond, and two lines are proposed in north Bengaluru, one connecting the KIADB Aerospace Park to Nagawara (25 km) and another 10-km stretch between Kogilu Cross and Rajankunte. Phase III also proposes a Metro link on the ORR from Hebbal to JP Nagar. The 13-km stretch on the Magadi Road (Majestic-Seegehalli) and between Iblur and Carmelaram also feature in this plan, which, however, does not mention two lines proposed during the preparation of the DPR for Phase II-A and Phase III in 2013. These are the 21.31-km Hosakerehalli-Marathahalli line and the 20-km Iblur-Hebbal stretch; which were proposed to pass through the city and provide Metro connectivity to important areas such as the Inner Ring Road, Koramangala, South East Bengaluru, and the Old Airport Road.
