MbPT launches Rs. 250-cr terminal expansion

Mumbai Port
On implementing its plan to make the city country's gateway to international cruise tourism, the Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) has decided to construct an expanded terminal at its docks at an investment of Rs. 250cr. The mega project, which will be flushed with modern amenities including shops, escalators, restaurants and other passenger amenities, destined to be similar to those at airport terminals, said an official spokesperson, Sanjay Bhatia, adding that the current facilities are not up to the mark, especially, since the management is trying to target the rich and elite who can afford cruise liner tours. As a matter of fact, the trust has already started work on it and the tenders will be floated shortly. An Italian international cruise liner, Costa Cruises, which is currently planning international voyages to destinations like Maldives and Colombo, docked one of their ships, Costa Luminosa, in the city.
