Kirloskar Brothers Powers Indian Navy's New Combat Fleet

Kirloskar Brothers Limited

Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) has strengthened India's self-reliance by supplying critical pumping solutions for the Indian Navy’s newly commissioned combat platforms—stealth frigate INS Nilgiri, destroyer INS Surat, and submarine INS Vaghsheer.

On January 15, 2025, the Navy inducted these frontline warships: INS Nilgiri, the lead vessel of the Project 17A frigates; INS Surat, the fourth and final destroyer under Project 15B; and INS Vaghsheer, the sixth and last Scorpene-class submarine. KBL provided high-performance canned motor pumps (CMP) for the HVAC systems on each ship, ensuring reliability and durability in both sea and freshwater applications.

With a strong engineering focus, KBL has established itself as a leading Indian multinational, manufacturing pumps, valves, hydro-turbines, and systems for diverse applications. The company serves major infrastructure sectors, including water supply, power generation, irrigation, oil & gas, construction, and marine & defense, while also catering to domestic and agricultural pumping needs.
