IWAI floats tenders for Yamuna terminals

In a major initiative to build terminals on the 16 km stretch in the national capital on Yamuna River, the Inland Waterway Authority of India has floated three tenders for dredging, ferry vessels, operating, and construction of terminals. On this score, it has also sought permission from the NGT for the works on the river, said Chairman, IWAI, Amitabh Verma, elaborating that the nodal agency is currently looking at Yamuna very seriously for building inland waterways and after carrying out detailed survey it has worked out a plan for the mega project and the construction on dredging is all set to start by December this year. As a matter of fact, IWAI has identified 30 stretches to be developed as Inland Waterways and tender process have been started for eight stretches while tender for another seven stretches will follow shortly, he claimed.
