IRSDC plans ₹895-cr multi-model hub at Surat railway station

The Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) has decided to convert the Surat railway station into a multi-modal transport hub based on global standards. Union Railways Minister, Piyush Goyal informed they will form a joint venture amongst IRSDC, GSRTC and Surat Municipal Corporation. The world-class complex will become a multi-modal transport hub (MMTH) for all modes of transport, making travelling more convenient for passengers. The mega infrastructure project is being headed by IRSDC, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the Ministry of Railways with plans to build modern railway stations on both east the west sides, with a bus terminal, passenger-friendly concourse, wide station lobby, ticketing hall, new train platforms and boarding areas connecting bridges, airport-style retail areas and food plazas and commercial / office spaces in the complex.
