Eastern Railway gets ₹2,366-cr infra booster

In a bid to build world class rail network in the entire north eastern region of the country, the Central government has approved ₹2,366.99 crore for construction of new railway lines across the region, said an official spokesperson of the railway ministry. He informed that ₹179 crore has been allocated only for the purpose of safety work, doubling of tracks and tracks renewal, and ₹208.15 crore has been earmarked to build passenger amenities. For traffic facilities such as yard remodeling and other related works, signal, and bridge-tunnel works, ₹65.32 crore, ₹83.25 crore and ₹70.69 crore have been granted, respectively.
