India plans $10-bn infra spend in B'desh

Taking the relationship between the two countries to newer highs, India will invest upto $10 billion in Bangladesh across sectors including infrastructure and healthcare and will provide $5 billion in loans, including $500 million in military assistance, PM Sheikh Hasina, who visited India recently, said shortly after returning to her country. She also accompanied by 280 member business delegation including 40 senior government officials and ministers. The offers of investment and loans were given by the Indian government and private entrepreneurs during my visit to New Delhi. Both investments and credit will be used for the development of infrastructure in several sectors including power and energy, logistics, education, medical, rail, road and waterways, she said.
