Adding to its project portfolio in the road sector, Wipro has recently secured a contract of Rs.615-crore from the Karnataka government to set up a State information highway connecting its 10,000 offices across the State under the Karnataka State Wide Area Network (KSWAN-2). In addition, the State cabinet, which met under the leadership of Chief Minister recently, also awarded contract to BSNL to provide broadband connection of Rs.186 crore for five years. The KSWAN is second phase to strengthen e-governance initiative in the State and connect all government offices and its functionaries are destined to get fast and reliable connectivity, as the main objective of the project is to establish a secure communication highway at all levels including far flung, remote and rural areas.
