U’khand metro project
In its quest to build trouble-free transport facilities in the hill state, the state government in Uttarakhand has decided to build Dehradun-Haridwar metro line at an investment of Rs.25,000 crore. The mega project, which being constructed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), will be completed in three-and-a-half years time. Apart from this, the state is also considering declaring Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Muni Ki Reti, Doiwala, and Raipur, as metropolitan areas, as these cities will be connected by the upcoming metro rail project, state minister for Urban Development, Madan Kaushik said. For the metro project, a five-km long underground rail track will be constructed between Haridwar-Nepali Farms and ISBT-Rajpur road as these areas are also the part of the project and are likely to be declared as metropolitan areas, he insisted.
