HTT eyes high-speed corridor contracts

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT), which makes futuristic trains that resemble a spaceship, plans to build the first such train called the Hyperloop for the Mumbai and Pune. As a matter of fact, the company has firmed up its plans for India, which includes a tie-up with two local companies for launching of a high-speed train on the targeted corridors.

In this connection, the player has sent the proposal to Union Transportation Minister Nitin Gadkari and is currently working on regulatory issues before the project gets a nod, co-founder, HTT, Bibop Gresta said adding that Hyperloop runs faster than an aircraft and the distance between Mumbai and Pune worth 149 km can be completed in 25 minutes. A flight takes 45 minutes between the two cities. The concept of the Hyperloop was popularized by Elon Musk, not affiliated with HTT. The project was to develop a high speed, intercity transporter using a low pressure tube train which would reach a top speed of 1,300 km/h with a yearly capacity of 15 million passengers.

He pointed out that the company is looking at a public-private partnership and is keen to acquire the land for the project. Futuristic trains like Hyperloop are increasingly being considered by countries globally to de-congest roads and tackle the issue of climate change and pollution.
