Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Approves Rs 1,185 Cr Road Infrastructure Projects in Surat Economic Region

Bhupendra Patel has approved road infrastructure works worth Rs 1,185 crore for the Surat Economic Region (SER), aimed at strengthening connectivity and supporting economic growth in South Gujarat.

The approval forms part of the state’s long-term development strategy under the Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT), which focuses on infrastructure, innovation, individual development and institutional strengthening. The newly sanctioned works represent the first phase of road infrastructure upgrades in the Surat Economic Region.

SER comprises the districts of Surat district, Bharuch district, Navsari district, Valsad district, Tapi district and Dang district. Together, these districts contribute more than 35 percent to Gujarat’s overall economic output.

The road upgradation projects are expected to improve regional connectivity, facilitate industrial movement and support the continued development of South Gujarat as a major economic hub.
