PM Narendra Modi Launches Rs 33,500 Cr Infrastructure and Housing Projects in Delhi

Narendra-Modi
PM Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around Rs 33,500 crore in Delhi, covering metro expansion, government housing redevelopment and modern office infrastructure.

A major component of the programme includes redevelopment of seven General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colonies to replace ageing government housing with modern residential complexes while optimising land use in the national capital. As part of the initiative, more than 2,700 newly constructed government flats and office facilities were inaugurated.

The foundation stone was also laid for over 6,600 additional GPRA flats and eight office towers under the proposed Bharat Business Park in Sarojini Nagar. The commercial complex will have a built-up area of around 2.17 lakh square metres and will incorporate energy-efficient building systems, solar rooftop panels, EV charging facilities and rainwater harvesting systems.

The redevelopment programme was approved by the Union Cabinet in July 2016 and aims to modernise government housing infrastructure in Delhi. The Prime Minister also highlighted ongoing initiatives such as expansion of the metro network, deployment of electric buses and upgrades to urban transport infrastructure across the city.
