Govt fast tracks 1250-km Delhi-Mumbai expressway

Delhi Mumbai expressway
NHAI is set to start construction of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which commands a length of 1250-km and entails an investment of ₹1 lakh crore. The construction work is being initiated less than a year after the government announced building a signal-free access-controlled corridor connecting the twin cities. NHAI is currently working on another 22 stretches and the land acquisition is at the last stage in Haryana where the work will be started in February and March. The project will cut down travel time between the two cities from the current 25 hours to 12 hours. This will be the longest expressway in the country passing through five states. The authority has fast-tracked the land acquisition process and since the expressway mostly passes through uninhabited areas, getting land has been an easier process. For each package, NHAI is getting at least four bidders from high performing contractors and this indicates that the project will be constructed on a fast tracked basis.
