The state government in Himachal Pradesh has recently received letter from the Central Urban Development Ministry stating that the Dharamshala smart city will be developed on 50:50 funding ratio, State Urban Minister, Sudhir Sharma said, adding that earlier the state government was communicated by the Centre that sharing would be in 90:10 ratio. The implementation of the smart city project would be done through special purpose vehicle, which would have members of the Centre, state government and urban local body. In this, urban local body and state would have 50:50 equity sharing and the funds provided by the Government of India in this smart city would be in the form of tied grants and would be kept in separate grant fund to be utilized under the guidelines of ministry of urban development. Union government has released the first installment of Rs. 186 crore to Dharamshala under this project, he claimed.
