CEA & IIT Roorkee Sign MoU to Advance Power Sector & Decarbonization Goals

The Central Electricity Authority

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), under the Ministry of Power, and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to strengthen collaboration in the areas of power sector innovation, capacity building, and sustainable energy transition.

The MoU aims to enhance technical capabilities of CEA personnel through training, online courses, and short-term projects. It also fosters joint research on key energy challenges such as hydropower, pumped storage, renewable energy integration, and decarbonization. The partnership will explore emerging technologies like green hydrogen, e-mobility, energy storage, and battery recycling, while also working on climate vulnerability assessments, emission inventories, and power quality standards.

This strategic collaboration supports India’s energy transition goals, with a strong focus on achieving net-zero emissions by or before 2070.
