AP pushes ₹1,300-cr infrastructure projects

The state government in Andhra Pradesh has launched infrastructure projects worth ₹1,300 crore in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA), said an official spokesperson elaborating that works in the GVMC are estimated to cost ₹905 crore while in the VMRDA they will cost ₹360 crore, GVMC commissioner G Srijana said claiming that the civic body will spend about ₹200 crore on road and drain works and the CM will also launch works from Kailasagiri Hilltop Park. About 70-km-long new drainage network will be developed. About ₹25 crore will be spent on repair works of roads and drainages, which were damaged during the recent heavy rains. The chief minister will lay the foundation stone for a facelift project for RK Beach under the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project with World Bank funds. Shore protection will be the focal point of the ₹109 crore programs and that GVMC has got about ₹52 crore from the French Development Agency to develop municipal schools of the city where the Asian Development Bank will grant funds to the tune of ₹9.5 crore to revamp Mudasarlova Park. Under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) scheme, he added.
