Currently, our products are being used by several large companies in India but now we are planning to focus on serving the needs of the customer who use traditional wood formwork," says Mr. Ajay Talange – General Manager, Sparkonix India Pvt Ltd in an interview with Maria R.

Could you brief us about your company, its progression and important business areas serving the infrastructure & construction industry?
Sparkonix India Pvt Ltd., offers economical and simple solution for all construction works including from light to heavy applications; from low-cost housing, or large residential buildings, commercial projects to complex infrastructure projects and also from foundations to columns, walls, slabs and beams. The company has branch offices in Delhi, Bangalore and associates in other major cities of India.

The company offers innovative, world-class formwork solution in technical collaboration with Geoplast, Italy. Through this collaboration, we assist our clients in all their needs regarding formwork - from offering tenders to site assembly drawing.

The company's innovative range of Formwork products is aimed at completely revolutionizing the concreting procedure by saving time and resources, while providing a smooth finish that is nothing short of excellent. In addition, we also provide a complete range of services for formwork starting from onsite training to final implementation, ensuring that the clients have the know-how to achieve faster, safer and more efficient construction cycle with this modern systems.


Please describe the products offered by your company and also their applications.
Sparkonix offers wide range of construction formworks and related solutions. The formworks offered by us are manufactured in high strength ABS (Acronitrile Butadyne Steren) plastic and are modular in structure. Our product range include:

A) GEOTUB® Round- The first ABS plastic formwork for round columns to make round columns with dia ranging from 200mm to 1000mm. These panels can be reused up to 100 times. The concept is new and very different from wood and steel formwork. The use of panels allows faster assembly and removal without releasing agent. The result is massive savings in manpower and shorter completion period for the project.

B) Geopanel Star® Square & Rectangular-The first modular formwork for square and rectangular columns with 100 repetitions and with 105 different combinations of size and shape. Use of Geopanel star allows faster assembly due to light weight. The panels require less manpower as compared to wood and steel formwork and can sustain 6200 kg per sq meter of concrete pressure. No releasing agent required after concrete pour and the material can be stored and stacked easily by just washing with water.

C) Geopanel® -This is an easy and intuitive system of modular high resistive ABS plastic formwork for building concrete walls, basements, foundations and pillars, lift walls etc. Compared to traditional wood or steel system, GEOPANEL® is more handy, cost effective and faster to assemble and dismantle. With different panel sizes, internal & outer corner elements can be used to form wall thickness from 100 mm to 400 mm.

D) GEOSKY® -Geosky is an advanced high resistive ABS plastic formwork system for slabs. The combinations of main beam and sliding wedge can be used to make slab set up. The system can be dismantled very fast and reduces turnaround time of the slab system. With this system, partial removal of panel is possible within just one day. It is an ideal solution to pour any kind of slab, bidirectional, full or lightened.

E) Skydome®-The light weight waffle slab formwork is more cost- effective due to creation of void, which reduces significant volume of concrete consumed as compared to a solid slab. The slab is completely self-supporting and does not require any special safety device or support platforms. The system can be assembled from below, providing additional safety for the job site workers.

F) NAUTIILUS®-The advanced formwork system for voided biaxial slabs transforms full concrete in mesh of orthogonal beams. The advantages include, weight reduction up to 40%, reduction of deformations, foundation load reduction and reduction of column width. The system is highly flexible and cost-effective as it is possible to build spans of up to 20mtr.


How do you view the current demand trends of the formwork Industry and its growth prospects in coming years?
The choice of formwork depends upon the requirements of the project. Traditional formwork of wood and bamboo are continued to dominate the Indian market. Despite this, we find slow but steady growth in the popularity of high resistive ABS plastic formwork system due to its wider use of wall, column and modular slab formwork system, which ensures that the time taken for the completion of construction projects – residential, commercial and infrastructure- is considerably reduced. This will help in maintaining optimized costs. The formwork industry is gradually emerging out of its nascent stage and will become an essential part of the construction industry in near future, accentuating rapid growth and reducing construction timelines.

What are the company's current focus and plans? Are you planning to expand your clientele by catering to other industries?
We are currently working to reach pan India network by giving immediate solution and service to customer. Generally formwork is the base for any construction industry. Earlier the traditional formwork with wood material being used, however with the advanced high resistive ABS plastic formwork, the project gets completed faster and require less manpower. So considering the above, we are planning to reach clientele who are using wood formwork and make awareness about the advanced formwork.

What are your plans to participate in the bC India exhibition in Mumbai. Do you think that participating at the show would help in promoting company's marketing objectives and vivificate a new dimension to its business areas?
The key products going to be displayed by Sparkonix at the show are: Foundation Forms – Modulo, Square, Rectangular, Circular, Oval shape Column Forms- Geopanel Star, Wall Forms – Geopanel, Slab Forms – Skydome, Beam Forms – Geosky, Retaining Walls- Geopanel, Lift walls – Geopanel etc.

We expect to create a greater awareness of our relatively new and innovative product in the Indian market. We would also make demonstration of our products including column, wall, slab formwork at the show. The visitors get the opportunity to experience and compare the advanced high resistive ABS plastic formwork with traditional wood formwork. This will help the visitors to understand and realize the advantage of the Formwork systems such as its faster construction cycle and drastic reduction in manpower/ skilled labor requirements.

Currently, our products are already being used by several large companies in India. In the near term, we are planning to focus on serving the needs of the customers who use traditional wood formwork.
