What will be the focus of your company's participation at Excon taking place in Bangalore this year?
Excon 2009 will witness our largest presence in construction and mining events so far and our focus in Excon will be to showcase the Puzzolana Group's strength in product range and quality.

Do you think that with renewed focus on infrastructure development and the timing of Excon'09 soon after the focus, the event would pep up the sagging market for construction equipment, products and services?
Infrastructure industry is a key to India’s growth and hence we believe that the Government stimulus packages starting infrastructure industry will grow. Excon'09 is being organized at the right time as it will be a good platform for construction companies, contractors, financers, and equipment manufacturers to come together.

Today, Puzzolana has upwards of 750 Turnkey Crushing Plants and over 2000 unit equipment in the market. We have always focused on R&D and the first Cone Crusher of Indian origin has fueled our growth. Since then we have developed numerous products. Today, our latest product is the Wheel Loader built in our new factory set up in 10 acres of land. A host of new products are under development two of which will be showcased at Excon 2009, says Mr. Abhijeet Pai Director, Puzzolana, in an Interview with S.K. Khanna.

How has the present spell of slowdown affected the market for crushing, grinding, material handling equipment and systems manufactured by Puzzolona and measures athand to brace this challenge?

Puzzolana products and services focus has enabled us to achieve a similar sales target as last year. The recession has impacted almost everybody, in our case we have not seen the 100% growth we had been achieving year on year from 2004 to 2008.

As one of the pioneer in design, manufacture and supply of these critical equipment to the construction and allied industries in the country, how many such equipment supplied by the company are in operation in the country and how they have helped to ensure cost reduction and related benefit to the users organizations?
Today, Puzzolana has upwards of 750 Turnkey Crushing Plants and over 2000 unit equipments in the market. The company has grown because of our attitude towards the customer as a solution partner.

Your company has many firsts to its credit in terms of indigenous manufacture of various equipment. Please tell us specifically about design and manufacture of 600 TPH Aggregate Crushing plant and1200 TPH Limestone crusher. How has this been achieved at your endusing global knowledge and indigenizing the same assuitable to Indian condition to deliver high quality products?
We work to achieve the best quality products and have a full fledged R &D team which aims to give customer value to money. We have engineers from Europe and other foreign countries working on product up gradation. Our products have found immense acceptability due to their technical superiority and high reliability. Our aim has always been to manufacture world class products in India.

Please tell something about Puzzolana growth over the years, its manufacturing facilities and their locations with particular reference to your new facility near Hyderabad for manufacturing heavy duty equipment and machinery, future expansions and entire product range.

What has been the measures initiated to beat recession and retain leadership in the market?
We introduced new products in the market and increased the range of products for infrastructure companies. We’ve grown both horizontally and vertically in terms of product range and markets. Today, we are successfully present in over 15 countries and are looking to set up a dealer network in other markets.
