Products and Plumbing Solutions from Ori-Plast
Kolkata based Ori-plast PVC pipes manufacturer has carved a niche for itself in the plumbing industry. P.P. Basistha in an interview spoke to the Director Ori-Plast Limited, Mr. Ashish Agarwal, to learn about the wide range of PVC & HDPE pipes manufactured by the company and plumbing solutions offered.

Would you please elaborate on the growth and emerging trends in the PVC & HDPE pipes industry and areas of demand?
As per industry estimates, the growth of the PVC pipes industry is at 15–20%. Growth is being driven by the core construction sector, real estate, housing, and irrigation sectors. There have been certain aberrations in the growth figures in the recent past. However, the demand trend has remained firm owing to government’s decision to spend huge amount on irrigation projects including Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), to achieve the agriculture growth target of 4 per cent during the eleventh plan period. The demand for PVC pipes is expected to remain fair to meet the requirement of all these projects.

What are the products range of your company?

Products and Plumbing Solutions from Ori-Plast

How far the Ori-Plast PVC & HDPE pipes are competitive as compared to metal pipes and what are their areas of utilization?
The Ori-Plast HDPE pipes have wide application areas ranging from drinking water supply system, slurry disposal system, drainage pipes system, sewage pipes system, irrigation pipes system, electrical conduit system, food processing systems, oil and transportation systems, and ducting systems.

The PVC & HDPE pipes are highly competitive because of their innumerable advantages as compared to metal pipes. These include, light in weight, stronger, long lasting and maintenance free, flexible due to elastic in nature and suitable for coiling particularly the smaller diameter pipes, tough due to high flexural and impact strength. The pipes are suitable to withstand high internal and external loads due to internal fluids pressure as well as external soil pressure. Importantly, the pipe does not react to water like metal pipes and have very low frictional resistant to fluid flow and thus save energy cost of pumping water. The pipes are again more competitive due to the best quality materials used in their production.

In addition to plumbing solutions, we also offer technical support, installation and handling solutions for our PVC & HDPE pipes by providing wide range of knowledge inputs on the pipe jointing methods to the end–user. We also provide jointing solutions through our own jointing agents in turnkey jobs. Moreover, an efficient jointing is much more important for the proper utilization of the pipes as it ensures smooth fluid flow through the pipes. Similarly, breakdown of the jointing can spoil the entire networking system of the pipes.

The specialty of this system was that it could be assembled and maintained in the floating condition with zero maintenance cost.
