What is your assessment of the progress that India’s construction equipment market is making?

If we were to talk about the post-Covid scenario, barring the first 2 years (2021 and 2022), growth has been consistent for the CE market, largely due to good capital influx into infrastructure projects by the Union Government over subsequent annual budgets. There has also been collective political will at the central government to push for infrastructure growth.

India, being among the fastest growing economies, is seeing huge investments being made in the manufacturing sector. However, our regulatory framework for infrastructure projects needs to be tweaked to adapt to modern construction technology and help equipment manufacturers. And to remain competitive in a market which is seeing global participation, we need to localize more without compromising on quality and timely deliveries.

How is your company leveraging global expertise while strengthening local manufacturing and technology capabilities in India to stay competitive?

Sicoma
Sicoma India is an example to our CE Industry in terms of localization. We are producing almost all sizes of Concrete Mixers in India from our facilities in Bangalore and Tumkur. There has been a seamless transfer of manufacturing and assembly practices from our global experts to India, ensuring the production and supply of high-quality and global standard Concrete Mixers to OEMs and end-users.

We plan to move to solar energy for our production facilities and as an ISO certified company, we adhere to norms pertaining to recycling and waste utilization. We are in talks with local bodies/industry associations to develop skill development centres at district levels for the local youth, so that new and upcoming industrial areas can employ them.

What technologies has Sicoma integrated into its machines to reduce carbon footprint, enhance operational efficiency, improve productivity, and ensure consistent concrete quality on construction sites?

We have integrated IoT into our concrete mixers, which are under field validation. This technology will enable plant operators to constantly watch and control their operating parameters from a central monitoring station. The data collected will help plant operators to take precautionary measures in ensuring optimal performance of the machines.

What key innovations or highlights from your EXCON 2025 showcase your commitment to sustainability, service excellence, and global competitiveness?

Sicoma has been participating at Excon since 2010 without missing a single edition—reflecting our long-term commitment to the Indian CE industry. At Excon 2025, we plan to showcase our latest energy-efficient mixer technologies, IoT-enabled monitoring solutions, and enhancements in wear-part sustainability and safety features. These innovations underline Sicoma’s focus on sustainability, service excellence, and global-quality manufacturing tailored for Indian conditions.
