Powerscreen will take part in the Excon exhibition in India, displaying its class leading Powerscreen® Pegson XA400S jaw crusher and the Powerscreen® Chieftain 1700 screener. Excon will also see the launch of Powerscreen’s first wheeled plant for the Indian market.
We will raise awareness in the Indian market of the fact that Terex®Pegson and Powerscreen® products and services have been united under one powerful brand – Powerscreen - to create one of the world’s largest suppliers of mobile crushing and screening equipment solutions.
Do you think that with renewed focus on infrastructure development and the timing of Excon 2009 soon after the focus, the event would pep up the sagging market for construction equipment, products and services?
We are highly encouraged by the infrastructure development plans laid out for the Indian economy and feel that Excon 2009 is perfectly timed in terms of a generally improving economic outlook and will provide a solid platform for Powerscreen to further build its business.
"Powerscreen has built a very successful core of business in India on the back of exporting from Europe. With the 2009 opening of localized manufacturing and service in Hosur, a very strong team of local members and an expanded distribution network we feel perfectly placed to take the business to a new level. Powerscreen is participating at Excon exhibition in India, displaying its class leading Powerscreen Pegson XA400S jaw crusher and the Powerscreen Chieftain 1700 screener," says Mr. Rajen Khoda, Director Sales, South Asia & the Middle East Powerscreen, in his Interview with S.K.Khanna
Terex has a rich heritage of designing and manufacturing existence in OEM in heavy compact and crushing and screening sector under Powerscreen brand operations. Please tell us something about Terex international operations, its manufacturing facilities and business segments.
Powerscreen’s principal manufacturing and service locations are in Northern Ireland, UK, USA and now in India. As part of multinational organization, Terex, we are also able to leverage our operations in other parts of the world.
What is Powerscreen's products range for mining, quarrying, crushing, demolition, and recycling industries?

Based on its positive market experience in India, Terex has expanded its operation in India through enhanced dealership and setting up its manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. What is the status of this new facility in terms of rolling of products and services relating to crushing and screening and equipment? What product range is expected to follow in the market?
Our brand new manufacturing and service facility in Hosur is now fully operational, making a range of our existing specification tracked crushers and screens under the Powerscreen brand name. We plan to follow these over the next few months by a new range of wheeled machines, targeted at the construction market.
Terex new facility will be first facility to manufacture Track Mounted Mobile crushers in the country. What are its technical attributes and USP?

Our plants are designed to minimize environmental impact with low running costs and save on inefficient transport of material across and between sites. Tracked crushing and screening plants offered by us are considered to be among the most fuel efficient plants available in the market today.
We recently tested our XA400S against an equivalent competitor machine and found that we can save up to 33% on fuel costs.
What are plans to promote indigenization of this new technology so as to be technically self-sufficient?
Though the technology of the tracked machines is existing European, our intention is to indigenize as many components as we possibly can and we have already gone a significant way in doing this. Our wheeled products have been developed jointly by our product development engineers in India and the UK.
How does Terex look at the evolution of Indian market in its favor vis-à-vis competition in the current product range? How would it rate India market as a sound destination for its products and services?
We see the market for mobile machines in all market segments growing at the expense of less flexible options such as static installations. The range of tracked and wheeled machines is specifically designed to take advantage of this anticipated shift, as indeed has happened throughout other parts of the world. India is one of the major strategic markets for Terex and the company plans to continue to invest to maximize its presence there.
What has been Terex learning from overseas markets which can be replicated as per Indian market place?
Our experience in over 60 countries would tell us that first class customer support and service lies at the heart of success in this market. Coupled with a spirit of innovation, we are confident that these attributes will position us ever more strongly in the Indian market place.
What has been the performance of Powerscreen Indian operation during the last 1-2 years? How did the company go about to make its presence felt more effectively addressing itself to the physical availability, sales and technical service requirement and delivering customized solution and further developing its market reach?
Powerscreen has built a very successful core of business in India on the back of exporting from Europe. With the 2009 opening of localized manufacturing and service in Hosur, a very strong team of local team members and an expanded distribution network we feel perfectly placed to take the business to a new level.
