An overview of your company progression and its important business areas serving the infrastructure & construction industry.
JCB in India started its operations in 1979 and today it is the fastest growing company in the Indian earthmoving and construction equipment industry.
JCB already has three world class manufacturing facilities in Ballabgarh and Pune. The one in Ballabgarh is the world's largest backhoe loaders plant with the manufacturing capacity of 100 machines per shift. This plant also manufactures the Liftall, our 'pick-&-carry' crane.
We have two manufacturing facilities in Pune. The Heavy Line manufacturing plant manufactures state of the art heavy equipment like tracked excavators, wheeled loaders and compactors whereas the other one exports fabrications and components. They were inaugurated in the year 2007 and 2006 respectively. Very recently, JCB announced its plan to set up its fourth world class manufacturing facility on a 70 acre site in Jaipur. The approximate investment of Rs.500 crores has been planned to set up this facility in phases.
In terms of our distribution network, we have the largest and the strongest reach in India. Currently, we have 57 dealers and over 490 outlets operating in India who ensure that our machines reach our customers in any part of the country. As part of our expansion strategy, the number of outlets will continue to expand so that we are available 24x7 for our customers. JCB India has grown along with the infrastructure development in the country. It has always placed great faith in the overall growth story of India and accordingly made strategic investments in expanding our manufacturing footprint and distribution network.
How do you see the demand trends for the CE market in 2013-14 in view of government more proactive approach to infrastructure development in the country?
With the increasing focus of the government towards the Infrastructure sector coupled with the planned investment in the next five years, we definitely anticipate a strong growth in construction equipment industry. Also, as our government plans to work on the faster execution of the top priority projects, it will act as an enabler in keeping the momentum rolling.
In the upcoming 12th five year plan, major investments are planned by our government to reduce the infrastructure deficit.
This augurs well for the CE industry.
