Manitou South Asia

"The renewed optimism on the government’s reform plans and its promising initiatives and concrete steps to invest heavily and boost the infrastructure sector, fuelled the huge Material Handling & Earthmoving growth until 2018. However, we may need to be cautious as this growth may not be sustainable owing to the 2019 general elections when the push for reforms may slow down."
Our innovativeness and optimisation of sourcing allows us to design products which fully meet our customers’ needs.
With our economic model based on businesses that create solutions, services and value for customers, the Manitou Group continues to establish its reputation and implements its strategy in a pragmatic and innovative manner. Our core strength and competencies can be defined as:
Designer: We believe that product innovation is the key to a successful development strategy. The continual search for innovation and optimisation of its sourcing allows the Manitou Group to anticipate market needs by designing products which fully meet its customers’ needs. The equipment under our ‘Manitou, GEHL & Loc’ branding and the attachments under our ‘Edge’ branding have a constant competitive edge on design in the global arena.
Manufacturer: In a move to adapt to changes in demand and the specific requirements of the different markets, the Manitou Group has built its industrial tool around three guiding principles: the development of know-how in manufacturing structure assemblies (such as frames, booms and masts), the flexibility and responsiveness of its supply chain, and the use of its high-skilled assembly and fitting capabilities.
Distributor: Manitou Group has focussed on deploying reliable and powerful networks locally: There are nearly 1,500 dealerships and distributors spread over 140 countries, all specialised in material handling equipment, sharing the same commitment with their manufacturer. In offering a comprehensive range of services via its networks, from financing the equipment to their maintenance, the Group meets the increasing pressing demand from customers for a personalised service to optimise their use of the equipment.
Providing service and value throughout the product’s life cycle: Manitou Group focuses on satisfying customers’ needs and seeking to create value. It designs products and services that are the most adapted to their requirements and work alongside them throughout the product’s life cycle. The objective is to search for the best performance, the greatest ease of use and the highest level of reliability, including awareness of fuel consumption and the product’s second life control.

The need for safe working technology / environments, versatility and low dependency on labour in industrial facilities and at construction sites will lead demand for Material Handling equipment.
Every contractor / end-user is increasingly seeking quality and efficiency in deriving output and early project completion through machines and with low dependency on labour. A meaningful trade-off between manpower and equipment fleet is required to achieve the best ROI. I am sure that safety, fuel efficiencies, green machines, versatility, and remote fleet management will be the major driving forces for every manufacturer of Material Handling and Earthmoving machines.
With the impending BS-4 slated for 2020 for Construction Equipment Vehicles (CEV), OEMs are working day and night to comply to these norms and these will be possible to implement only through use of technologies.

Our core KPIs are responsiveness, low machine downtime and reduced Total Cost of Ownership for our customers.
Since 2011, we have been providing direct aftermarket, training & technical support to all our Telehandler / Aerial Work Platform customers through our direct teams placed across the country. With the acquisition of Terex, we are aligning our dealers to raise their aftermarket support for Backhoe Loaders and Skid Steer Loaders to the same levels as our direct operations, and our engineering team is working with clear timelines to enhance the quality of the backhoe loaders to the international standards of Manitou.
Spare parts availability is always a key challenge and a determining factor in reducing machine downtime. It is our endeavour to work along with our dealers to have the right inventory profile and increase the availability level of parts. Our direct facilities across India will provide the required regional support to our dealers and customers. There is a dedicated hotline number for any query by customers.
Our strong connect with our dealers is providing the required impetus in enhancing our brand positioning.
Currently, we have more than 60 dealers who cater to the Indian sub-continent. Each dealer has its own sales and service outlets, to cater to customer requirements in their respective areas. We have regional offices and branches across India to provide the required technical, aftermarket, and support services to our dealers and customers.
The acquisition of Terex along with its dealer network has allowed us to have a deep access to the market. Along with increased investments in improving the quality of the backhoe loaders to the standards of Manitou, we are also strengthening our distribution profile with core focus on providing effective aftermarket support to our customers. The combined strength of our direct team in the field along with our dealers’ full involvement has been providing the desired results and we are hopeful that we will scale new heights soon and will make a mark.
