Part of the JK Organization, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. is a leading tyre manufacturer in India and amongst the top 25 manufacturers in the world with a wide range of products catering to diverse business segments in the automobile industry.

JK Tyre has global presence in 100 countries across six continents with six plants in India and three in Mexico. Currently, the capacity across 9 plants exceeds 20 million tyres per annum.

Speaking to P.P. Basistha recently, Mr. Devesh Dabas, Head, Off-The Road Business, JK Tyres & Industries Ltd., said, "Having the reputation to make varied solutions and strong R&D, we are now planning to complement the product line through adequate service support required for the mining and construction sector." Excerpts:
    • Portfolio of tyres for varied applications in mining and construction sector:

      JK Tyres is the oldest Indian manufacturer of tyres with wide range of offerings from its stable. We manufacture tyres ranging from 16 to 57 inches. The ability to manufacture wide range of solutions is based on the prolonged expertise of the company in tyres business. Our portfolio is adequate enough to meet the requirements of backhoe, wheel loaders, and rigid dump-trucks and varied other equipment involved in earthmoving applications.

      Further, we have solutions for Port & Terminals; tipper trucks are also a segment where we are making a considerable presence. We have sufficient presence in the domestic market, but now we are planning to expand our footprint in the export market in order to hedge the volatility in the domestic market.
    • Expertise behind producing varied solutions for the mining and construction industry:

      As stated, JK Tyres has gained the required expertise owing to its extended exposure in tyre production. Many of the present day manufacturers in the domestic sector are deficient in the same. Having enjoyed long presence in manufacturing and marketing, we are well acquainted with the application orientation of tyres. Accordingly, we are formulating to suit the varied requirements in construction and mining applications. These tread-compounds have been created after extensive research and controlled monitoring of product performance in field in varying underfoot conditions.

  • Major OEMs in off-highway using JK Tyres:

    We supply our tyres to Action Construction Equipment, BEML, Caterpillar, Escorts, JCB, Liu Long, Tata Motors, Tata Hitachi, Standard Combine and L&T Case.
  • Production and supply chain arrangements for availability:

    We have strategically located our stock unit depots, which are backed by appropriate logistics network, to ensure the timely availability of the products to each individual customer.
  • Range of support services:

    We have well packaged tailor made support services for the mining and construction sector. The varied services complement our wide range of offerings, allowing the customers to curtail owning and operating costs. We have in place a well knit service plan for new and existing customers, wherein services are provided to the customers to optimize the tyre life. Users are also rendered training for the appropriate usage of the tyres to minimize losses caused due to improper usage. Tyre management services are suitable for fleet owners using the equipment in difficult working conditions. The services enable the users to offload the tyre maintenance and repair, in turn allowing them to have optimized cost of operations. The services are much supportive for fleet owners to gain margins.
