GS Caltex India Unveils Sustainable and Future-Ready Lubrication Solutions

GS Caltex India continues to strengthen its role as a sustainability-driven partner for India’s construction, mining, and infrastructure industries by developing advanced, sustainable and future-ready lubrication solutions for India’s rapidly growing construction and mining sectors.

The company displayed it Kixx HDX Euro FA-4 SAE 5W-30, an API FA-4–compliant engine oil designed to address modern fuel-efficiency requirements. API’s new FA-4 engine oil category is designed to improve fuel economy. According to the company, only a few other companies in India currently offer engine oils that meet this specification.

The Kixx Comsyn Premium 46 and 68 is a fully synthetic compressor oil designed for industrial compressor applications. A key feature of this product is its long drain interval, offering a service life of up to 8,000 operating hours. In comparison, conventional compressor oils typically last between 2,000 and 4,000 hours, making this a significant improvement in operational efficiency and maintenance reduction.

Kixx Geartec Syn GL-5 is a premium synthetic gear oil developed for superior protection under extreme operating conditions. It is engineered to meet the demands of modern, high-performance driveline systems.

A common and important differentiator across all three products is the use of our in-house base oils sourced from the company’s refinery in Korea—one of the largest refineries globally. These base oils are produced using advanced hydrocracking technology, which provides superior properties such as a high viscosity index (VI), low volatility, and improved cold-temperature performance. All these products are designed to meet the latest performance, efficiency, and durability requirements of construction and industrial equipment.

GS Caltex is also working on bio-based solutions and EV-compatible lubricant grades, expanding its portfolio to help reduce the carbon footprint of its own operations and those of its OEM partners. The company works not only with OEMs but also with additive manufacturers—a collaboration that aims to develop solutions that benefit all stakeholders, including the lubricant manufacturer, the additive supplier, and the OEM. With electric vehicles gaining momentum, joint efforts are underway to develop EV fluids, bio-based fluids, and lubricants capable of sustaining longer operating hours. Extending oil drain intervals remains a key area of focus.

“We are among the early movers in the adoption of bio solutions, or RRBO (Re-Refined Base Oils). One of the biggest challenges in this space is the collection of used or waste oil. We are exploring the possibility of collecting used oil directly from our OEM partners’ project sites, particularly from large mining operations. Our aim is to set up a collection mechanism, transport the used oil back, and re-refine it. While this initiative is still at an early stage, it requires a collective push from the entire industry to move forward,” informed Savant.
