CDE Asia's Newer Washing Advancements

What would be the major growth drivers of manufactured sand in near future in India?
Demand of manufactured sand will keep growing on account of strong demand fundamentals from the construction sector in India. Moreover, it is the trend to use high quality concrete that will add to the demand of high quality sand. As per projections, India will require 500 mtpa of sand by 2018. About 70% of the demand will be from core construction and real estate. To appreciate the scale of the sand requirement, each of the upcoming nuclear power plants is estimated to require as much as 12 million tons of sand. Based on growing emphasis to create sustainable projects, there will be requirements of quality sand meeting specific grades. The demand of colossal volumes of sand will be difficult to cater from traditional river sand due to restrictions and limitations on extraction. Further, there is perennial issue of inconsistent supply of river sand during the monsoon period that usually results in causing delay in project construction. Washed Manufactured sand produced with desired particle shape, proper gradation, silt content and absence of deleterious materials manufactured by suitable processing rocks through crushing and washing with consistent supply from the production source to the job sites will be able to remove the supply gaps and meet the desired specification requirements. Most importantly, it has the potential to reduce consumption of cement upto 18 percent in projects that are using crusher dust in absence of river sand.
What are the newer projects, CDE Asia is looking forward to work upon with its given solutions?
At CDE with our given solutions, our focus is to add value to construction industry by continuously developing technologies for production of superior manufactured sand. One of our recent successful initiatives was commissioning of our ‘Oremax’ dual wash sand plant near Delhi that processes as much as 30% silt content to produce in-spec manufactured sand. This plant was installed for a stone crushing entity that subsequently branded and launched ‘SVM Ecosand’ in the NCR with huge success. Meeting the specific requirement of SVM to produce manufactured sand out of the stone dust with extremely high level of impurities of 30% silica content in Delhi region, ‘Oremax’ system demonstrated its pioneering ‘dual pass technology’ in material washing business. The other objective for selecting this technology was owing to its ability to recycle 90% of water, required for washing, much essential due to acute water scarcity in Delhi and Capital Region. ‘Oremax’ is built with integrated compact hydro cyclone based fines processing unit and water recycling unit. It offers multi-level attrition to the minus 5mm particles through the slurry pumps and high cyclone velocity. The first cyclone pass removes the high percentage of waste solids. The cleaning process does not end here. In-built dual pass technology ensures that material obtained from the first stage of washing gets another chance and is processed again. This unique process facilitates removal of substantial levels of ultrafine to meet the end product requirement. Our other newer initiative for producing manufactured sand is taking up projects by identifying suitable quarries and end-users for our customers, which can be utilized to produce manufactured sand for proposed smart cities. The idea is to have economies of scale by having production centers close to consumption centers. We are quite positive that this wholesome approach will further kick-start the process of driving demand of manufactured sand replacing and preserving natural sand. Looking forward towards optimization of our plants, we are working on an initiative where apart from producing washed sand from crushed aggregates; we will also produce bricks from the waste sludge, left post washing.

What are the newer technical advancements being incorporated in your plants for maximization of value to customers?
Since our inception in India, CDE’s endeavor has been to continuously optimize plant performance and maximum value to its offering. We are a green company and most of the research and development is focused on reducing energy and water required for producing per ton of material. We are in the process of developing newer plant designs that will recycle upto 95% of water within the system, for reuse. This feature will be soon made standard in all our products. This will be a complimenting innovation for our current product offerings, which reuses 90% of water. We are also keen to introduce aggregate washing solutions in India, for improving the quality of aggregates. We have engineered our products for quicker installation and our plants take only three weeks to be erected and commissioned. They are modular and flexible in design to cater to the ever-changing requirements of the project site. Introduction of dry air classifier is another new initiative. Air Classifiers is useful for cleaning sand in areas where weather conditions are extremely dry along with dearth of water. Dust suppression system is a standard supply with such systems. Another step towards improving return on investments, we have recently introduced a Remote monitoring feature as an option for all our main products. This system will allow the customer and our service team to remotely monitor the performance of the equipment, to plan preventive and predictive maintenance. Moreover, it is a reliable tool to gather critical data on the operating conditions of the equipment. This will enable us to carry out future product improvisation.
Please give us a brief overview of your new manufacturing facilities.
We have set up a modern assembly facility in Kolkata near to our first facility. We build the entire washing plant range of ‘Combo’ and ‘Oremax’ products in the Indian factory besides others. CDE Asia is currently delivering about 40 projects in a year. Apart from catering the requirements of the domestic market, we also export products to growing economies such as Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa, Tanzania and Vietnam etc.
What are your product support initiatives?
We provide complete product support through service engineers spread across the country. Services are also being rendered for plant operation. The engineers provide initial training to operators on PLC based operation, to be able to adjust and produce the required grade of sand. We also provide various Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) packages for improving plant availability across the entire lifecycle of the plant.
