What factors are driving the current demand for construction chemicals, especially waterproofing, tile adhesives, and repair solutions?
The demand for construction chemicals is rising rapidly, with the industry witnessing a CAGR of around 30%, a growth rate unmatched by most other sectors in India today. This surge is largely due to a shift in customer preferences. People now prefer ready-made materials that simplify construction, avoiding the hassle of sourcing sand, cement, and other raw products. There's also a growing concern over common issues like leakages, which waterproofing solutions and tile adhesives can effectively address.Awareness has significantly increased as well. With access to more information, customers are better educated and more inclined to use specialized construction chemicals. Among all, tile adhesives are seeing the highest demand, largely due to the booming tile market in India. Tile companies are launching new and improved products that offer better quality at lower costs and can be used with different tile sizes, natural stones, and granites. We’re also seeing innovations in repair solutions, with major players like Sika, Fosroc among others introducing products that cater to modern repair and construction needs.
What is the current product portfolio and geographical reach of Aquaproof?

The company gradually expanded into manufacturing other construction chemical products like waterproofing solutions, dam proofers, integral waterproofing components like LWP and WC, and drymix mortar products. We have recently added epoxy products in our portfolio and will soon begin manufacturing PU adhesives as well.
Our geographical footprint has also expanded significantly. From a single unit in Goregaon East, Mumbai, we now operate 18 manufacturing units across India, including in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. Since 2019, we've been adding two new units every year. For now, we are focused on strengthening our presence in India, and international expansion is also on the horizon. Our goal is to eventually offer every product used in the construction chemicals industry by both B2B and B2C customers.

Which products do you consider your flagship offerings, and in which projects have they been successfully used?
Our flagship products are primarily our tile adhesives, which are ISI-approved, and, in our opinion, among the highest quality available in the market. In fact, most products in our dry mix mortar range can be considered flagship offerings.One of the most recent and prestigious projects where our products were used is in the construction of the new BAPS Swaminarayan temple in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, where we supplied tile adhesives and wall putty. Another notable project was an eye hospital in Chhattisgarh where our tile adhesives and putty were used.
We also strongly recommend our waterproofing products like Aqua Damp and AquaFin 2K, which is a two-component waterproofing system. These are ideal for roof applications to prevent water seepage through walls and roofs and should be used consistently for long-term protection.
How does Aquaproof meet the evolving market demands and maintain consistent quality of its products across different regions?
We closely follow market trends and actively engage with our customers and developers to understand the challenges they face and the qualities they expect in our products. Based on this feedback, we explore new raw materials available in the market by consulting our suppliers to identify which materials can help us achieve the desired product characteristics. We then conduct R&D in our labs and only after thorough testing and refinement, we launch the product(s) commercially.As you rightly mentioned, different regions have different types of sand and raw materials. So, before selling our products, we adjust our formulations based on regional variations to ensure optimal performance. This helps us maintain the quality and reliability of our products even in diverse conditions.

What regulations, project specifications, and public-sector mandates determine the selection and use of waterproofing and drymix products?

This shift is encouraging every company to invest more in R&D to improve their products and deliver better solutions. The standards have certainly improved; they’re now more aligned with European benchmarks. Also, getting ISI approval has become stricter, which is a good thing because it helps maintain and enhance product quality, ultimately contributing to better durability.
How is Aquaproof incorporating sustainable practices into its product development?
Sustainability is the key focus for everyone right now, and we’re aligning our product development accordingly. We are working on reducing the cement content in our products, as cement manufacturing is a major contributor to pollution. We’re also replacing river sand with M-Sand wherever possible to make our products eco-friendlier. We explore alternative raw materials that can enhance product performance while supporting our sustainability goals.How do you ensure that masons and painters are well-informed about your products and their proper usage?
We don’t conduct formal training sessions, but we regularly organize dealer meets, mason meets, and painter meets. These gatherings help us educate applicators about our products, their correct application methods, and the advantages they offer.We make sure to communicate in the local language they are comfortable with, so the information is clear and easy to understand. We also provide brochures, pamphlets, and other reference materials with visuals, which they can refer to even after the meet. If they have any doubts or questions, they can always reach out to us.
Are there any upcoming innovations, product expansions, or strategic plans from Aquaproof that the industry should look forward to?
There’s enough space in the market for everyone, and we’re growing slowly and steadily. As a 23-year-old company, we’re focused on strengthening the credibility that we've earned over the years.We plan to introduce a full range of products which will meet all the construction chemical needs.
