Mammoet Completes Heavy Transport & Installation of New Wear Footbridge

Mammoet, an expert in efficient bridge installation projects and smart site management, has successfully performed the heavy lift and heavy transport of all four New Wear Footbridge steel sections. The 250-meter bridge was fabricated in Ghent, Belgium, by Victor Buyck Steel Construction. Weighing 1,150t, it comprises four sections that needed to be shipped from Belgium and installed in Sunderland. The New Wear Footbridge will play a key role in Riverside Sunderland - connecting pedestrian and cyclist traffic from the city center to the Stadium of Light – home of Sunderland AFC.
