The City Roads Improvement Programme in Vijayawada has planned to upgrade 19 key roads under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost of Rs 171 crore. The project will focus on strengthening urban road infrastructure and improving traffic movement across the city.

The scope of work includes improvements to drainage systems, footpaths, road medians, carriageways, and greenery development. The project will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), with the selected private developer responsible for construction as well as operation and maintenance of the 19 roads for a period of 10 years.

In the initial phase, Rs 55 crore will be allocated for development works, which are targeted for completion within 12 months. The remaining project cost will be released in phases. The roads covered under the programme include PVP Mall Road, GS Raju Road, HT Line Road, and Gurunanak Colony Road, among others.

Tenders have already been floated. Once the contract is awarded, the developer will have six months to complete surveys and submit detailed drawings, followed by a one-year timeline to execute the road development works.
